Overview

Jenang Yu Jumilah Pasar Ngasem stands as a beacon of culinary tradition in the heart of Yogyakarta. Nestled within the bustling Pasar Ngasem, this porridge spot offers a genuine taste of Javanese heritage through its range of jenang—an array of sweet rice flour porridges enriched with coconut milk. The vibrant display of nine distinct varieties, from jenang candil telo to jenang ketan hitam and jenang mutiara, invites both locals and visitors to savor a blend of textures and flavors unique to this region.

What sets Jenang Yu Jumilah apart is its mastery of balance: the sweetness harmonizes deftly with the creamy, rich santan, creating a comforting yet lively flavor profile. The smoothness of the porridge and the subtle chew of ingredients like sweet potato and tapioca pearls demonstrate a thoughtful layering of mouthfeel and taste. This culinary craftsmanship has earned the brand its legendary status and keeps patrons returning despite the often-lengthy queues, especially on weekends.

The experience here is deeply rooted in cultural immersion. Situated in a traditional market setting, the ambience is lively, warm, and unpretentious. Seating is limited and modest, with no air conditioning, reflecting the authentic market vibe rather than a polished dining environment. This adds to the charm but also calls for patience and a willingness to engage with the vibrant market life surrounding the stall. For those seeking convenience or a more relaxed pace, take-away is a popular choice, allowing the indulgence of jenang’s flavors anywhere.

Jenang Yu Jumilah caters to a wide audience—from devoted local food lovers cherishing nostalgic flavors to adventurous travelers eager to dive into Javanese culinary heritage. It’s especially appreciated by morning visitors aiming to start the day with a warm, sweet, and satisfying meal. Visiting on weekdays early in the morning can provide a more tranquil experience with shorter lines, allowing for a more comfortable exploration of the various jenang types.

Overall, Jenang Yu Jumilah Pasar Ngasem is not just a place to eat but a cultural landmark preserving a time-honored recipe. It offers an authentic, flavorful journey through Javanese sweetness and tradition that is well worth the visit for anyone coming to Yogyakarta.

Oya kalo kesini siap-siap sabar buat antri panjang apalagi pas weekend beuhh menyala!!

Best Jenang ever!!! Taste is exceptional!!Located inside of Ngasem Market (Pasar Ngasem), one of a famous traditional market in Yogyakarta. Jenang, contained mixed type of rice flour porridge with coconut milk. Also contained minced sweet potato, black sticky rice, tapioca pearl. Affordable price with IDR10k, under $1, you can have a signature taste of java. You also can take away if you want to enjoy the food not in a rush way because the queuing is long and the seating area is quite limited. No air conditioner which made this area a bit hot because of people crowds. Limited parking area, only motorcycle but for best experienced, it is highly recommended to walked in and enjoy the other stalls which also sell various traditional food. Should try, once in a lifetime and recommend to visit on weekday below 7am.

Sengaja kesini pas hari biasa, jadi gak begitu antri. Jenang nya bikin kalap pengen makan semua, akhirnya 1 bungkus komplit, 1 pilih bbrp rasa. Menurutku yang bubur mutiara terlalu manis, untuk ketan hitam, sumsum pas rasanya.

Istri pingin nyoba kuliner legendaries ini. Lokasinya di Pasar Ngasem. Datang pas weekday tetep ngantri Tp tentu tdk sepanjang weekend krn ga sampai 10 menit kami sdh dilayani Jenangnya lembut dg rasa manis dibalance dg gurihnya santan. Sejauh dari 3 tempat lain yg pernah kami coba, memang jenang disini yg paling enak. Makan ditempat hrs sabar nunggu meja kosong. Dan setelah selesai makan juga sebaiknya segera berkemas kasih kesempatan customer lain krn yg ngantri tempat juga banyak

This is a perfect spot inside a traditional market to try a classic Javanese breakfast: jenang. They offer more than five different types of jenang, and you can mix any combination into one portion. A complete portion costs just IDR 10,000, which is very affordable. The taste is excellent, each jenang is carefully made and flavorful. The only downside is that it’s very popular, so both tourists and locals flock here, making it quite crowded at times.

The market have various choices from appetizer, main course to desert. Today I chose to try Jenang From Yu Jumilah. Located in the left side from entry gates near Jedah Tempe stole. The line was too crazy, although the service super fast. They offer 2 sizes : Small (3 toppings, takeaway cost for 6k), Regular (all toppings, takeaway cost for 11k and dine in for 10k).
